Bob Streit is an actor, screenwriter and musician based in southern Illinois. In 2007 he wrote the screenplay for Under These Same Stars- the Céladon Affair, an independent feature film from Céladon Films, LLC. In 2008 he portrayed Lt. Juan Oliver in Under These Same Stars and contributed 3 songs to the film’s soundtrack. As an Associate Producer on the project he has helped procure and promote successful screenings in multiple cities including a sold-out presentation in St. Louis at the Missouri History Museum. Streit continues to facilitate film fest submissions and regional screenings of the film.
Currently, Mr. Streit is Directing a documentary, Confidence Man-- the Hugh DeNeal Story, with a planned 2011 release. Confidence Man, traces the career of singer-songwriter Hugh DeNeal and his band the Woodbox Gang (Alternative Tentacles Records). Its a cautionary tale about how playing dark Bluegrass, hosting High Yield Investment Programs on-line, and touring with a mortgage to pay can land you in Leavenworth Prison.
Mr. Streit has over 20 years of theater and film writing and acting experience. Past projects include the films Inside the Playwright's Head, The Show, and This Prison; his 1-man shows The Bitter with the Sweet, Hollerin’ Down the Holler, and From Here to There; and his children's’ plays Walk in my Shoes, Talk in my Tongue and How Jimmie Ray Became the Tugboat Captain Down in the River Valley Town.
Ever productive, Mr. Streit still finds time to work on the script Fr. Thomas, American Outlaw; write and record songs for the CD For Pete’s Sake, a tribute to the life and legacy of Pete Scott MacGregor; read for film roles; and raise a family. In Under These Same Stars his lovely wife Kathy can be seen dancing in the party scene, while daughter, Twyla, plays the fiddle. His son, Gabriel, graces the film as well, portraying the Irish lad, Laurens Peterson.
